The continuing adventures of the Metro Gun Share Program

November 14, 2018

Back in June of this year, The Escape Pod unveiled an experiential/outdoor art installation for the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence here in Chicago.

We hoped it would generate lots of PR and media attention.

And thankfully it did, as you can see here.

But the story didn’t end there.

Our idea caught the eye of Will.i.am (of the Black Eyed Peas) who is a passionate advocate for sensible gun control. And he paid to transport the installation out to L.A.

Which is how it ended up at ComplexCon – a cool annual art/activism event curated by COMPLEX magazine.

Big thanks to Will.i.am and his manager for helping set this up.

Big thanks to Marc Ecko for donating floor space at Complexcon.

And finally, big thanks to the legendary Shepard “OBEY” Fairey for doing an impromptu Metro Gun Share t-shirt collaboration. How cool was that?

We’d hoped that this idea would travel and it literally has done just that.

Where will it end up next? Who knows.

The idea also just won a Clio award for best PR campaign.

Thanks to everyone who has helped bring this idea to life. It has truly made an impact and continues to do so.
